So Mariah was smart and got both Ellice from ES Photography and myself to pose for her for hair and make-up and then to take each other’s photos..I had to rush to make it afterwards to the ISES event at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion downtown…so I pretty much went all dolled up like this…LOL. Sorry I am HORRIBLE in front of the camera Mariah:)  I honestly don’t know how models do it!  Nevertheless, It was SUCH  a fun, girlie day!  Here are some pics of Mariah’s skills:)

OK, so if you don’t click on this video (That I took on my  Canon 5D camera…Love it!.) then you are missing out on a slice of life.  Seriously, its watching people THIS talented that makes me realize why I am alive, why I am an artist and WHY I am not a professional musician…Compared to these two I am like on a kindergarten level of playing the piano.  These girls Tina Guo on the Cello and Yana Reznik have SUCH accomplished resumes at SUCH a young age.  Tina is only 23 years old!  They just joined forces recently and I am not kidding, these two are going to be HUGE stars!  Check out this ridiculous performance…

This is Sarah and Jon!  They are getting married in June and will be THE FIRST couple to get married at the brand new Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes.  I am VERY excited to check out  the property once it has been built.  They booked an Associate Photographer package with me, so the Fabulous Jennifer Jasso and Heather Kincaid will be the dynamic duo that gets to shoot their wedding.  Jennifer shot this engagement shoot and took them all over Chinatown and downtown LA.  It’s a really cute idea if you are not into frolicking in the sand and ocean like most couples do:)

Dustin and Michelle are SUCH a cute couple.  They are both so laid back and outdoorsy, that it made this shoot super easy.  We basically just ran around Will Rodgers State Park and the Beach and enjoyed what a gorgeous Saturday it was.  It was SO funny..Dustin had this HUGE beaming smile the entire time.  Michelle must just make him THAT happy:)….the last shot is of this huge wave hitting the rocks.  I am used to shooting at the beach right before sunset and not in the morning, so it was SUCH a surprise just how powerful the waves are in the morning.  We all got drenched, it was pretty hilarious, but it made for a beautiful splash in the background of the photos!

I LOVE shooting the World Oilman’s Poker Tournament every year, not only because Karl Brensike is the host and we have an ongoing “relationship” since I see him at like 3 weddings a year (he refers me ALL of his college friends’s weddings), but because he flies out my FAVORITE assistant to accompany me (YEP, that’s YOU Robert:).  We basically enjoy the cigars and drinks of the hospitality suite, catered meals, shooting poker tournaments, wine and 5 course meals…and of course, the final night where they fly in a huge comedian to do a private performance for them…This year it was Frank Caliendo.  Although sometimes it feels like I am being thrown to the wolves being like the ONLY woman there with a bunch of Texan Oil Tycoon’s that have been around all men and drinking for three days straight (ie: check out the wrestling and passing out photos below..lol) , they are all SUPER nice and very intelligent, interesting men and Robert and I have SUCH a blast with them.  I am sure we will be shooting this tournament for years to come.  THE highlight of this year’s tournament was that MY friend, Karl Brensike, actually WON the entire tournament…taking home $35,000 and bragging rights for a yea!!  Congratulations Karl!!!  I tested out my new HD video function on my new Canon 5D Mark 11 OR as I refer to my camera as “my child”, and got him ON VIDEO winning the Jackpot.  I have to say it’s SO cool being able to shoot stills AND video at the same time…..and seriously Karl when are you taking me shopping???  LOL, Oh yeah, That’s where Heather gets all the perks.  I am SURE I will be shooting your wedding in the near future….$35,000 can buy a pretty nice engagement ring….:)
